This book was really great. When the main character’s little brother was diagnosed with luekimia, the book really changed its direction. It was about the struggles of this family, but it was also surprisingly funny. Not only was it about having to deal with the cancer, but the main character was a teenage boy, so he dealt with school that he was missing, his band practice schedule and just trying to fit in, so the book had its funny moments. It seemed that one of the greatest parts of the book was when the band concert was turned into a benefit concert for the family because they were losing money from paying the hospital bills. Everyone joined together to create a program with ads and shout outs, to hold a bake sale and more. It just seemed like one of the nicest things anyone could do. And not only did they raise money, but because the brother had lost all of his hair, everyone in the band either got really short haircuts and even shaved their head. To me, this was a very touching moment in this book. All in all, this was great book that gave the message to be strong no matter what, and i would reccomend this book to anyone.

This book was fantastic. It stars out when a giant cruise liner is destroyed in a fire. Oddly, the fire prevention systems all fail. the book is about finding out who destroyed the boat, how, and why. This book was amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone above the age of 13.

The book Audrey, Wait! is an awesome summer read. In this book, Audrey, a normal girl with a love for music, breaks up with her boyfriend, Evan. Evan is in a band, and he writes a song about her. Suddenly, Audrey becomes famous, and her life is changed forever. She has to deal with fame and keeping what’s important to her. I really enjoyed this book because its a great plot, especially for someone who loves music. Also, it portrays that fame is not as wonderful as people think it is, and no matter what, you should be true to yourself. With it’s fast pace and awesome plot, Audrey, Wait! is a great summer read.

In Rick Riordan’s riveting final book to his Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson must save Mount Olympus from an angry Titan named Kronos. Fifteen year old Percy Jackson is living in modern day New York and is part of a camp for teenagers with one mortal parent and one Olympian parent. Percy is the son of Poseidon the Sea God, and is teamed up with the daughter of Athena, the daughter of Zeus and with many others to fend off the Lord of time, Kronos. Kronos is backed up by monsters, giants and hellhounds. The forces of good and evil collide in multiple fights in Manhattan. Mount Olympus is currently located on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building, and the Titan forces are trying to destroy it. While the demigods are fighting Kronos, the real gods are fighting Typhoon, an immortal monster that is slowly making its way to New York as well. All the while, the son of Hades tries to find out who is mother was, and Percy Jackson seeks the power to actually overcome the Titans. Rick Riordan’s humorous writing style and speedy plot development had me finishing the book early the second day. With creative plot-twists and descriptive battles, Riordan concludes his epic series with a bang!

Bringing Down the House

I really loved this book. It is about Kevin Lewis: A card counter. i read this book after seeing the movie 21. I would say that the book is just as good if not better than the movie. It is a little bit more R Rated (more swearing and derogitory terminology) but it is great all the same. Its plot is a little different from the movie, considering the character works on a team of about ten counters, not five, and that the players do more then just play a high low system (shuffle tracking, ace cuts, etc.). If you ever had any doubts on reading this book, just go for it. I loved it. It is a pretty short book and it can be read in about a week. Just read it. It’s fantastic.

A true story of how a policeman trying to do good for the community is shot on purpose. Everyone in the town knows who it is and does nothing. The family lives in terror that the criminal will come to finish them off. Interesting told in one chapter by the dad, the cop and the next chapter the perspective from the daughter. It is real and a riveting read about what life was like as the cop went through surgeries and they all feared for their lives. I could not put the book down read it all day and night! A must read!
